About the Author
Glasgow-born ex-lawyer Susan Calman is a stand-up comedian, actor and writer. Susan is a regular on BBC Radio 4 programs such as The News Quiz and I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue as well as TV shows like QI and Have I Got News for You. She's written three radio series including a sitcom and her first national tour in 2015, Lady Like, was a sell out around the country.Her new tour, The Calman Before The Storm debuts at the 2016 Edinburgh Fringe.
Susan lives in Glasgow with her wife Lee, and her cats Oscar, Pickle, Daisy Fay Harper and DCI Jane Tennison.

I purchased this on audio on a whim, I guess you'd say . I was looking for something short , funny ,and after listening to the author's voice, I was sold . I love her accent . Being from the US and not well-versed in comedians ,I hadn't heard of Susan Calman before .
She is a delightful, breath of fresh air . She's Scottish , Lesbian and a former lawyer, who decided one day that she wanted to try her hand at stand-up comedy .
This book is a combo short memoir/ and honest telling of what it is like to deal with Depression, and how the author handled it . I think each person who suffers from this illness needs to deal with it in their own way . I like the way she talks about this openly and says it helps her to talk about it rather than hold it in .
I hope her audiobook, and ability to read it for others to listen to, has helped her ,and I think it will help others to understand it and deal with it if they or someone they know suffers from it .
The author sounds like a very likeable person who it'd be fun to just sit and talk to ( I'd rather listen ,and let her talk ,with that beautiful accent of hers :)

Uplifting, challenging... beautiful

What a wonderful book. I have struggled with depression for a long time. It can be a lonely place and you can feel that no one else understands. Susan Calman's book was like a breath of fresh air. Her honesty was touching and left me feeling that I was not the only one. I laughed and cried my way through the book and felt uplifted by the differences Susan is making in her life but fully acknowledging there's no quick fix and that life still comes in different shades of mood and challenge. As I was reading the book my husband was listening to the audio book, it gave him a new perspective on some of my darker moments and the way I viewed myself. This is a book I will read again and again. Thank you Susan.
