Doug Gault is a Consulting member of Technical Staff at Oracle Corporation and has been working with Oracle Database since 1988, starting with version 5.1B, SQL*Forms 2.0, and RPT/RPF. He has focused his career on Oracle's development technologies, spending the majority of that time dedicated to web-based technologies including the OWA Web Toolkit, PL/SQL Server Pages, WebDB, Oracle Portal and more recently HTML-DB and APEX.
Doug's many years of Oracle Database experience have taken him all over the world to participate in some truly ground-breaking projects. Doug has presented and participated in roundtable discussions at a number of conferences, including Oracle OpenWorld, UKOUG, and ODTUG's APEXposed & Kaleidoscope conferences. He holds an Associate’s Degree in Computer Science and an honorary Master's Degree from The School of Hard Knocks, believing there is no replacement for hard-earned experience.�

Great, Advanced Book; Get Companion eBook from Apress for 5 bucks

First, I wanted to make sure you know that you can always buy the companion eBook to any Apress print book for only 5 dollars via their website. They will ask you a question or two referencing the book to ensure that you own it. I have done this will all of the Apress books that I have and it is very nice of the publisher to do such a thing.
So this Expett APEX books is written by several well-known APEX authors - each take on a chapter. I have worked with APEX everyday for 6 years now. And, I would say at least 30%-40% of the techniques and information was new to me. So, it was well worth the price to me.

Learn Oracle Application Express with this Book

This is an excellent book for learning Oracle Application Express version 5.
Instead of using "wizards" to build pages, this book walks you through
building objects manually which gives you a much better understanding of
the properties assigned by the "wizards". It is a great starter book.
It is very readable and builds your knowledge as you work through the examples.
I highly recommend this book.
