If you are looking for an adventure book that has fun on every page, you should check out THE ACCIDENTAL CHEERLEADER. It's about two seventh-grade girls who try out for cheerleading, but what they don't know is that one of them made it onto the squad and the other is stuck being the school mascot.

After tryouts everything went downhill. Sophie doesn't know if the life of a cheerleader is her thing. What if her best bud, Kyle, isn't having fun? Should she stay with the most popular girls in school (and on the squad) or should she go back with her real friends? If she goes back to hanging out with Kyle, will she forgive Sophie for using her?

I think you should read this book because it has non-stop action! I give it 5 stars!

THE ACCIDENTAL CHEERLEADER is a FANTASTIC book. Sophie and Kylie are best friends, but they both try out for the cheerleading team. Sophie is a cheerleader,but Kylie is the mascot. They get into a fight. They say they don't want to be friends and everything is ruined. Will Sophie and Kylie be friends again? Man is a being meant for political association

Barker's translation of the "Politics" was published in its original form in 1946, and in an abridged form in 1948. The translation was a good one; the explanatory matter was enlightened and enlightening, but was very much Barker's own, and now seems somewhat dated. For the Oxford World's Classics series R. F. Stalley has revised Barker's translation, and has supplied his own introductory essay and notes.

The revision of the translation has been done lightly. In places the English becomes a little plainer. The treatment of technical terms has changed: it is perhaps a pity that Barker's 'polis' has become 'city', though the change makes it clear that 'city' and 'citizen' are related. 'Polity' as the good counterpart of democracy becomes 'constitutional government'. In 6.8 Barker gave the Greek as well as a translation of some of the offices mentioned, which is helpful to students reading discussions not based on the same translation; Stalley omits the Greek terms. Barker provided an introduction to the work as a whole; italicized summaries before the individual chapters; short insertions in square brackets; footnotes; and a variety of end notes. Stalley has written a new introduction; his chapter summaries are lightly revised from Barker's; he uses bracketed insertions, though more sparingly than Barker; and in place of the footnotes and he has just over 90 pages of end notes, some of which quote Barker's views.

Stalley provides a bibliography, a chronological table, maps and a glossary-cum-index. This book invites comparison not only with Barker's but also with what will be its chief rival in the student market. Usually, but not invariably, the Oxford translation is slightly more formal and less vigorous than the others (such as the Penguin edition): which edition one prefers will simply be a matter of taste.

Wonderful Addition To Any Poli-Sci Library

Aristotle's The Politics is without a doubt one of the most celebrated works of political science from antiquity. He begins with a description of a state, advances through the numerous types of constitutions, describes the ideal citizen, and defines good government-not to mention numerous other fascinating political insights into the running of a state.
Aristotle's outline for government and state has been influential to political scientists for over 2,400 years. His discussion on the cons of complete unity, as well as his chapter on "the natural and unnatural methods of acquiring goods," certainly must have influenced Karl Marx, and his discussions on the "good of all" certainly led to Mills and Bentham's utilitarianism.
The Penguin Classics edition gives the reader an authoritative, inexpensive copy that is ideal for scholars as well as students. The footnotes are helpful, but not excessive. An excellent purchase all around.

Loved the book, loved the story line and am so excited for the next book. It's fun, adventure, fantasy and totally impossible to put down. I started reading last night and was up until dawn. It's so great to find a book with such a original storyline and with such fun and fascinating characters. I highly recommend this book!

A wonderful journey

This book is a fun exciting journey into a world filled with conflict. The book starts off which excitement halfway through the first chapter. With each chapter I find myself wanting more. The main character is extremely fun to follow. Reminds me of Enders game and Harry Potter. Highly recommend.

Unique storyline kept me hooked!

I absolutely loved The Names They Were Given. I found myself engrossed in the world of the Consortium from the first chapter and enjoyed delving deeper into the islands as the story went on. The characters are fantastic - relatable and multi-dimensional with just the right amount of wit and humor. Delle isn't your average heroine, which made me like her even more. The author does a wonderful job of creating an entirely new world and I loved how unique the storyline is from anything I have read previously. Highly recommend for anyone looking to invest in a new series. So looking forward to the next book!

Content is decent. I received my copy from India and it's not the best quality printing but it will do, it's not the worst either... not sure if they have a license because it has all the printing info covered with marker, but is also not a copy as crappy as a xerox. I paid too much but still much less than what a US book would cost.

This is a good basic book for an introductory course stressing the practical application of soil fertility. The information is in depth enough for undergrads without going into information that is beyond what is useful for the field. The knowledge form the text could be taken from classroom to field and used on the first day.

This work is terrific if one is interested at all in the way in which cities could be developed. The ideas which Calthorpe presents are revolutionary and instrumental if one wishes to gain any sort of idea of the concepts and ideas proposed by "New Urbanism". His explanation of his Transit Oriented Development (TOD) is vital in understanding the difference between these developments and traditional versions. His use of specific examples makes the work that much better as it becomes more tangible and less simply theory. I would highly recomend this book to anyone involved in any sort of urban or city planning or simply interested in cities themselves.

The one point in favor of this book is that it promotes a much-needed land use concept: Plan and build near transit. The critical downfall of the book is that it perpetuates the auto-centric lifestyle. While Europe and Asia are beginning to perfect pedestrian districts around their transit stops, the best that we Americans can do is to simply build residential units with 2 parking spaces each near metro stops. Too much land (typically 40%) is wasted in providing for streets, alleys, driveways, and the large number of parking spaces for each vehicle.
Such a design is still auto-centric if it makes automobile use the quickest and easiest way to shop at [a physical store] versus providing a pedestrian environment to walk 2 blocks to shop at a Mom & Pop store. Pedestrian environments with local grocery/pharmacy, schools, offices, day-care, sports fields, and other weekly needs are going to be able to eliminate 90% of automotive travel requirements. The other 10% can be easily provided through carsharing, a fast growing market in 21 North American cities now. Parking structures on the periphery of the district provides parking for carsharing and private automobiles (though the latter is retained by a modest percentage of households).

Despite its age and somewhat outdated nomenclatures, this book is still the best comprehensive introductory hydrology book in existence. There are better quantitative hydrology texts (e.g., Dingman), better engineering texts (e.g., Chow and prodigies), more cogent overviews of hydrology (e.g., Hornberger et al.), and more appropriate "handbooks" (e.g., Chow or Maidment). But, Dunne and Leopold is the only text I know of that provides a good balance among applied context, quantitative tools, and conceptual descriptions of basic and integrated processes while retaining its comprehensive character without copious mistakes and errors. I sincerely hope that a new, similarly good text emerges soon.

A good handbook for any planner

Dunne & Leopold's "Water In Environmental Planning" is a great tool of reference for the planner of any type. It addresses key issues in the role of water during the planning process and also includes important formulas for solving water problems. If you can get past a boring first chapter, this book is well worth the money and makes a great reference for the urban, rural or environmental planner. 4 stars.
