This book was required for my class. It is one of the more poorly written casebooks I have come across in law school. The notes after the cases often served more as a confusion point or were unnecessarily long. The cases were edited fairly well with a few exceptions. You will likely need a supplement to use in conjunction with this book in order to understand what is going on.

Clive Staples Lewis (1898-1963) was one of the intellectual giants of the twentieth century. I pre-ordered this book and was not disappointed. If you are into the art and lore of Magic: The Gathering this is a must have. The book has weight with solid binding and when gently opened there was no cracking sounds like a cheap coffee table book. This is a high-quality production book. If you are like me and had to strain your eyes to appreciate the artwork, this book is a godsend as many of the illustrations are enlarged to fully appreciate the details by your favorite artists.

For those who have been following the lore of Innistrad, this book further adds details you won't get from Wizards site thanks to James Wyatt's contribution to the details (for example:"Nahiri has played on their discontent and given them new masters to serve."). I really think Wyatt's deep background from the early days of D&D was invaluable for the book. In fact, the book reads like a classic D&D Dragon Magazine article which further expounds on the general lore.

Back to the artwork, there are many two-page spreads of cards from SOI and even Eldritch Moon! Perhaps they timed the release intentionally! I read some reviews that the previous artbook for BFZ block had low resolution but that's nonsense after seeing the prints in this book. The details are amazing.

The appendix is really fantastic as it delves into how and why Innistrad mechanics are so special. Unfortunately, upon initial look, it doesn't include Eldirtch Moon's mechanics like Meld but it's still a fascinating look into how Wizards R&D operates.

All in all, this is one of my favorite M:TG item of all time aside from the cards themselves.There is so much flavor and information about the Innistrad plane. I hope Wizards will continue this tradition with Kaledesh and beyond to satisfy the hard-core lore lovers like myself!

Plus: I love the fresh smell of the book, it has a very much a "new car" smell.

Welcome to Innistrad! The worst place for humans ever lol

If you are a fan of the story and/or art from Innistard, Dark Ascension and Avacyn Restored set that came out in 2012 or the recent Shadows Over Innistrad and soon to be released Eldritch Moon then this book of 239 pages of awesomeness is for you. This book not only contains a summary of all the major events that happen on Innistrad from the original set in 2012 and continue in the current 2016 set but also has extra details regarding the provinces of Innistrad, the humans, vampires, werewolves, etc that live there and ultimately what it is like in the plane. The art work is just...wow...freaking gorgeous. I mean the artwork on the cards are already nice but seeing them on these pages. You get a a lot of artwork and lore with this book so I wholeheartedly recommend it if you are a fan of Magic the Gathering or enjoy Gothic art work.

A fantastic book for any fan of Magic: the Gathering especially the Innistrad blocks.

When I bought this book, I expected it to be mostly, if not all, just art from the set and nothing else. However, it's actually a deep and descriptive tool to learn the history of Innistrad. It even goes through all of the main characters, monsters, places, and events of the original block as well as the new sets: Shadows Over Innistrad and Eldritch Moon. The art is mostly from the cards, but there's some new art sprinkled throughout.

If you liked the Innistrad sets, I highly recommend it. It's a high quality book with high value.

As a lifelong MAD devotee from the time it was a four-color comic, I can tell you that there are few thrills in life quite like seeing your own movie parodied in the pages of MAD! So you can imagine my shock and glee when I glommed on to the cover of the September 1984 “Grimlins” issue with Alfred E. Neuman as Gizmo, surrounded by horrified Gremlins holding their noses behind him. And even better, what was inside was almost too good to be true: several hilarious pages of clever spoofery by Stan Hart illustrated with the usual brilliant Mort Drucker comic art!

Let’s be clear—Mort Drucker is simply right up there with Hirschfeld as the master American caricaturist.
His pure, unmistakable graphic style has captured an astonishing array of 20th century celebrities and public figures. Even if you didn't know a performer’s name you could always place the face. His movie-like staging and composition were unmatched, and the result was artwork that could be revisited time and time again and still yield something new. That particular facet of MAD influenced many nascent filmmakers, including myself.
I never actually met the absurdly prolific Mr. Drucker, but I feel I know him through his years of work.
Now there’s a legacy few of us can even aspire to!

Since I first read MAD Magazine as a kid, I've been drawn in by its mix of highbrow satire and lowbrow laughs that pokes very funny holes in the stuffiest of institutions. Mort Drucker's signature artwork captures and exaggerates the world around us and the people in it in a way that makes them more real. His caricatures are the best, and he is the artist that defines MAD for me.

When I had to choose an artist for the American Graffiti poster, Mort was the first and only person who came to mind. Since then, he's been redrawing my movies as funny parodies. You never mind being the subject of one of Mort's jokes, because he executes them so artfully.

The influence of Mort Drucker on readers of MAD Magazine cannot be overstated. I remember with vivid clarity sitting in my elementary school classroom, while I was supposed to be working, desperately trying to copy his brilliant caricature style. It didn’t work. Not then and not now. Drucker’s eerie ability to absolutely capture the heart and soul of his subjects—and put them in hysterical tableau—is unmatched by anyone. Even the way he signed his work was something of inspiration; I remember as a kid trying to create my own signature in a style as cool as Drucker’s. I wished I had an “M” and an “O” in my name so I could do the three lines and circle thing like he did. I am and always was, like so many others, a huge fan of Mort Drucker. One of the greatest comic artists of all time.

COULDA BEEN BETTER!

First of all, I'm rating the BOOK, not the cartoonist!. Mort Drucker is the best one around; PERIOD!

That's why his work deserved a much better anthology than this one. I think the editors of MAD (now owned by Time-Warner) picked the most commercial movies ("Gremlins", "Jaws", "Batman") instead of the artist's finest works. Mind you, there's no such thing as a "bad" Drucker movie satire -each one is drawn superbly- but there are good ones and outstanding ones. "The Oddfather Too", for instance, is rendered in pen and ink when depicting the Pacino scenes (1959) and in gorgeous shaded pencil work for the DeNiro ones (1920). "Blue Eyed Kook" has the funniest Paul Newman likenesses ever caught, and "The Great Gasbag" or "Chinaclown" look better than the actual movies! None of these are featured in the book. Also, I would have liked to see Mr. Drucker's first MAD assignment, his first movie satire, his first cover, and his first full color parody. Last but not least, I would have loved to get a meatier interview by about his work and career. Still, it is a lovely edition (compare it with the awful Fantagraphics book on Jack Davis), but for my money, I'd wait for a truly great retrospective of Mort Drucker, done in the same luxurious manner!

P.S.: In the meantime, try "Familiar faces: the art of Mort Drucker" by David Duncan, or the now unavailable "The art of Humorous Illustration" by Nick Meglin. Books on Drucker for "druckerians", if you know what I mean.

The Master himself highlighted in a handsome book!

First of all, this is a beautifully edited volume with great reproductions of Mort Druckers' fine artwork for MAD magazine, spanning 52 years of first-rate contributions. Most are in crisp black and white but there are some color reproductions of several of his fantastic covers. Included is a beautiful pull-out poster from 1965 in color, originally published in Mad Follies #2. You will find here some of his best parodies from movies and TV shows like Bonanza, Batman, True Grit, The Godfather, American Graffiti, Serpico, Jaws, Raging Bull, Law & Order, Harry Potter, Star Wars, Rocky, Spider-Man, Mission: Impossible and many, many more! I am old enough to remember Mort's work from the earliest years and to me, he was the main reason to buy MAD. That was the first thing I turned to when picking up every new issue and I miss his work from the current editions. No artist has come close to capturing celebrities' likenesses like he did. His line work was extremely precise but somehow loose and free-wheeling and he enjoyed filling his panels with little gags and funny details. You had to go back several times to absorb every nuance Mort inserted here and there. And every satire mirrored the original inspiration exactly. His feel for ambiance, settings and space composition has gone largely unmatched by subsequent Drucker wannabes. All in all, a beautiful volume and a fine tribute to one of MAD's greatest artists. If I had to quibble, I'd only wish some of my favorite parodies had been included, like Bullitt, The Towering Inferno, The Fugitive, The Man From U.N.C.L.E., The Spy Who Loved Me or The Godfather II...but that's only on a personal note. If you admire Mort Drucker, if you're a MAD magazine reader from way back or if you appreciate the fine art of caricature, this book will not disappoint. I only hope we get a Volume 2 sometime in the future with more jewels from Mr. Drucker, my all-time idol!

Not what I expected

I grew up with Mort Drucker's work. I love his attention to detail and his humor in his artwork. I thought I was going to get his finest work here. No way. Of course being a realist, I understand that his finest work is subjective to anyone who is choosing it. If Mort chose the work then so be it, I disagree. Left out were many of his older works in favor of the new stuff. I think its obvious the target audience they were going for her was a younger generation. I grew up in the 60's and read MAD every week. The older we get, the numbers drop off, so much of his newer TV shows were chosen to attract a younger buyer. I can understand this being commerce minded, but the words "sell out" come to mind. Either way, Mort has always been and always will be an artist who inspired me. If you like Mort's older stuff, chances are its not in this book.

About the Author

Michael J. Roy, Ph.D., RAC, is an adjunct professor in the Master of Science Biotechnology Program in the School of Medicine and Public Health at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He teaches Biotechnology Operations and Project Management and Leadership. He has successfully developed biopharmaceutical and medical device products for more than 22 years, serving as a consultant in biotechnology since 2001. Much of his work has focused on early development of novel biotechnology products and medical devices with emphasis on product development planning, regulatory affairs, quality systems, and project management.

He received a Ph.D. in Pathology from University of Wisconsin–Madison, an MS in Tropical Medicine and Medical Parasitology from Louisiana State University Medical Center, and a BS in Biology from the University of Wisconsin–Platteville. In addition, he holds Regulatory Affairs Certification (RAC).

Mr. Roy is a retired colonel in the U.S Army. While serving, he was involved in the development of in vitro diagnostics and vaccines and in establishing ISO (International Organization of Standards) quality systems at the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases, Ft. Detrick.

Helpful, but boring

Very helpful book. It was a boring read though and doesn't go into too much depth re: Pluto in the aspects and houses generally speaking. It was more centered on individual victims of trauma and how their charts related to their abuse. Some of the stories in this are heartbreaking. I appreciated the fact that this book offered a lot of remedies instead of the "You've got this in your chart, it predisposes you to a lot of chaos and you have to find some way to transcend" approach many astrologers take when writing about Plutonians.

The best Pluto book ever

I love this book. I have read many many books on Pluto, being a Plutonian myself, and have found Cunningham's interpretation easy to grasp, written with care and compassion, and very straight-forward. Cunningham doesn't get overly flowery or diverge from the topic at hand. this is a great book no matter your level of astrology. I find her writing style in general is written for the masses, but with Cunningham it is an asset.

the book is sectioned in a general over-view of what defines a Plutonian type (someone with a very active Pluto in their natal chart or going through a major Pluto transit), touching on diverse topics as sex, relationships, power, violence, and abuse. Also discussed in somewhat "cookbook" style is the specific applications of Pluto in the natal chart and the natal placement and aspects. here, it would have been great if she got even more specific (instead of lumping house and sign placements together, it would have been great to discuss what house placements on there own mean, or specific aspects in a natal chart mean to the Plutonian) , but her efforts are sufficient. She then goes into specific meditations and bach flower remedies that facilitate healing and evolution beyond the lower vibrations of Pluto. Specific transits to natal planets and their lessons are next. 1 chapter is dedicated to the issue of abuse and incest. the author acknowledges that this part of her book is not easy to read, but as a counselor she brings great insight to the subject. throughout her book, the author not only addresses the potential for the "lower manifestations" of Pluto aspects, but she emphasizes the potential to evolve and heal. the higher, more positive aspects of Pluto aspects get their fair mention.

Beautifully and simply written, worth many re-reads. Of all my Pluto books, this is the one I recommend to others most and refer to again and again.

"Why does this keep happening to me?" she asked

That's a question my niece kept asking herself. The victim of 3 armed robberies. It wasn't until the last one happened and she told me that once she was safe at home she started to throw up and have the runs. That is when the light bulb went off and I had to do some astrological research, because what she experienced post-robbery was definitely Plutonian.
I have Donna's book, but hadn't read it yet so I thought, "Well, it's definitely time to read "Healing Pluto Problems" and right there at the very beginning of Chapter 1 page 1 was illumination! I quote, "Aspects to the Sun, Moon, Ascendant, or Midheaven involving Pluto, or someone with several important planets in Scorpio or with a strong eight house indicates a "Strong Pluto."
For this quote alone, the book has been invaluable to my niece and has answered her question "Why does this keep happening to me?
My niece has an Aquarius Sun, but for all intents she is a Scorpio-Pluto person.
Her Pluto is conjunct her Moon, Mars, and Saturn; all 4 planets in Scorpio.
These 4 planets are square her Sun.
These 4 planets are sextile her Venus, Neptune, Jupiter, Mercury.
Her 8th house cusp has Aries on it, the co-ruler with Scorpio of the natural 8th house.
Her Uranus is unaspected.
All of the above explains her choice of jewelry: dead scorpions encased in clear acrylic.
(Surprisingly, she is not Goth at all).
She majored in Criminal Justice in college too.
Her last boyfriend has a yod to Pluto at his MC.
Her current boyfriend has a Scorpio Sun (plus 3 other planets in Scorpio and numerous aspects from them).
Her grandmother, for whom she is named, has Pluto at her MC.
Her dad has Pluto on the 5th house cusp(house of children).
Her mom has Pluto in the 8th house.
And the list goes on, and on, and on.
None of my family members have a Scorpio Sun, but they all have strong Pluto.
If any of you potential buyers of this book want or, more importantly, need to understand Pluto-Scorpio people, I most strongly recommend that you buy this book.
It's like an survival guide book - no really!
There may be 'deeper' books out there on Pluto, but this one is easy to read, has lots of information that gives you those 'ah-hah' moments, and explains so much about what Pluto-Scorpio people are on about.
And believe me, if you have ever done an astrological reading for one of them or have to live with them, this book will at the very least give you patience, tolerance, and understanding in your relationships with them.
Also helpful was Stephen Arroyo's book "Astrology, Karma, and Transformation."
On page 57 (footnote) he speaks about Pluto transits and also mentions that "Contacts with the criminal underworld are also common when someone is born with strong natal aspects involving Pluto and the Sun, and sometimes with other personal planets also."
Thank you Stephen for this. It explained everything about those robberies.
If you don't work with Pluto, it will find you and you may not like how it looks.

Don't get me wrong, this book is not the Bible but it helps explain things in the Bible. It's a short read and it is organized as a quick reference to use as names or other info is needed when reading your Bible

Ken is at it again! Great book Ken. I have read every book Ken has ever written. You might say I am a fan of his. He writes the truth like no one can. He is thorough in his research, he gives references to his readers where he received his information and he only sticks to biblical truths. Ken is a man of God's revealing. God has given Ken a special gift of relaying information in a truthful manner without degrading any denomination. He says it like it is. No sugar coating the word. He says it how he says it.
Good that is the way it should be.
The book is simple it addresses different subjects such a Gods worshipped in different biblical areas, the different kind of angels, demons and their sources, divinations etc.

Hidden Truth Revealed

What a sad day when I discovered that the history we have been taught is almost completely wrong. I often wondered, while being being deluged with the evolution theory, why all of a sudden, 6000 years ago in the Sumerian culture, they found intelligently written documents. Not just historical documents but business transactions and complex architecture. Understanding the truth behind the fallen angels is the key to understanding the truth about who we are, why we are here and where we are going. This book is well written and since I had a knowledge of the subject previously, there were definitely important things that filled in the blanks for me in my research. Well worth the price. Not a book to rush through, but to study.
